West Midlands Woodturners

·       Jon suggests that competition work should be done using 'pre-prepared blanks', so that valuable time is not used up mounting, rounding off, cutting spigots etc. No preparation other than that.

Other things to keep in mind for the show are:

Make sure you put a board UNDER your club lathe please to protect the floor. Have some waste sacks and a brush available to help keep your area clean and clear during, and especially, at the end of each day. You MUST provide a “Club Name” for your stand.

The second hand items sale. ANYTHING related to our craft can be brought along and put on the table. If it is still there when you leave, you should take it with you. If it has been sold, we will give you back 90% of the sales value.

The special interests table needs a few volunteers. This is NOT a request for people to stand up in public to address an audience. It is a chance for people to talk on a one-to-one basis with visitors to the show, showing off samples of your work, and discussing any matters that arise. This is no more than we all do at every club night. As an example, Jon is going to talk about Singapore balls, and how they are made, plus the general process of producing a goblet. So, if the thing that floats your boat is:

·       Musical instruments,

·       or walking canes,

·       or pens,

·       or platters,

·       or segmented turning,

·       or pyrography,

·       or threads and boxes,

·       or ANYTHING ELSE.

please stand up and be counted, "Your Show Needs You".”
